I'm currently teaching 8th grade Spanish. I have taught all levels of Spanish, from kindergarten to high school, at various times in the past 17 years. I have a BA in Spanish and International Relations from Lake Forest College in Lake Forest, IL, and an MA in Spanish Language and Culture from the University of Salamanca in Salamanca, Spain. My shop includes all types of resources for Spanish and French, as well as materials for English Language Arts and ELL.

French Numbers and Math Listening Activity St. Patrick's Day Theme - This French numbers listening activity will hold the attention of your students as they make their way around the oval writing the French numbers that you dictate. After all numbers are dictated, students quickly do the math to find the correct final answer based on the numbers that they heard and wrote. They will be anxious to raise their hands and share their results! You choose the numbers for the activity so it can be used for very basic numbers or large numbers, depending on your focus. Students first cut, assemble and read the booklet that contains text and illustrations of words associated with football: ball, stadium, quarterback, fans, game, referee, and helmet. They then sketch and create their own version using the text only template. The illustration version can be projected in class to present, review and practice pronunciation of the vocabulary words. Spanish Family Matching Squares 2 Puzzles - 9 Square Basic Words - Students assemble a 3 x 3 bilingual Spanish/English vocabulary puzzle with basic family words. There are 14 different words used in the puzzle. Words used are madre, padre, hermano, hermana, tío, tía, abuelo, abuela, bebé, mamá, papá, primo, prima, and familia. The 2 designs include 1 with no repeated words and no words on the outside border, and 1 with repeated words and words on the outside border for a more challenging puzzle. Just photocopy enough for a class set (1 for every 2 students if working in pairs, or 1 per student if working alone), cut and fasten with a paper clip. Distribute to students and challenge them to reassemble the puzzles as quickly as possible. All words are listed twice alongside the puzzle in Spanish and English. This list is helpful when students are assembling the puzzles and also makes a good review list or bookmark.

Como es is repeated several times, each response includes at least 2 descriptive adjectives (there are 12 different adjectives used in the skit) and each line contains a conjugation of the verb ser. The skit is short enough to memorize, yet contains a variety of family and adjectives vocabulary. The skit is copied 2 per page for student handouts and the English translation is included.
